PEAS PULAV
Peas pulao is a popular Indian rice dish that is easy to make and delicious to eat. Here's a simple recipe to make peas pulao at home:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/2 cup green peas
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2-3 cloves
- 2-3 cardamom pods
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1-2 green chilies, slit
- 2 tbsp ghee or oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
1. Wash the rice in water and soak it for 15-20 minutes.
2. Heat the ghee or oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds.
3. When the cumin seeds start to splutter, add the cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, and bay leaf. Fry for a few seconds.
4. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
5. Add the ginger garlic paste and green chilies and fry for a minute.
6. Add the green peas and fry for a minute.
7. Drain the water from the soaked rice and add it to the pan.
8. Fry the rice for a minute until it is coated with the masala.
9. Add the water and salt to taste. Mix well.
10. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover the pan with a lid and let it cook for 10-12 minutes until the rice is cooked and all the water is absorbed.
11. Turn off the heat and let the rice rest for 5-10 minutes.
12. Fluff up the rice with a fork and serve hot with raita or any curry of your choice.
